Once more on the Porosity of the Walls between the Identities

Once more on the Porosity of the Walls between the Identities

NADYA DANOVA

The purpose of the paper is to examine two cases of transgression of the boundaries between the national and religious identities dating from the end of the 19th and the beginning of the 20th century. The focus is on the biographies of two Catholics: Georgi Angelov (1892-1972) from Edirne and Ferdinand Dechev (1842) a Bulgarian from Banat. On the basis of the analysis of the sources it may be concluded that we have to agree that the sources from that time attest the possibilities of further crystallization in process of national formation of Bulgarians and their religious identity.
